Adrian Dawson was born at home near Pontefract in Yorkshire, England, in 1971.
Having been a fan of all things creative for most of his life, Adrian eventually settled on illustration as the day job and became an airbrush illustrator. In 1988, one of his bosses placed a Mac under his nose and he never looked back. Adrian’s subsequent creative career has spanned digital illustration, retouching, advertising, graphics, web development and copywriting. At the age of 22, Adrian started his own design agency of which he is still Creative Director.
Adrian wrote Codex, a high-tech thriller, in 1998 and submitted it in 1999 to the Christopher Little Literary Agency who, under Patrick Walsh, signed him immediately. Unfortunately, Patrick was unable to place the book and ultimately left to form his own literary agency. Then a guy called Dan Brown came along with books called "Angels and Demons" and "The Da Vinci Code" and Adrian’s work became even harder to place...
Ultimately, Codex was released digitally in the spring of 2010 where it stormed the iBookstore charts, heading straight to Number 2 in the Mysteries and Thrillers section. It subsequently became the #1 bestselling full length thriller on the iBookstore of the entire year. The paperback version, released in December 2010, was also very successful.
Adrian’s second novel, Sequence, garnered four and five star reviews from the Telegraph and The Times newspapers, the latter of which ultimately voted one of the Top 5 Thrillers of 2011. SciFiNow Magazine ran a full page article reviewing Sequence, offering it 4 out of 5 stars. When referring to Dan Brown online, the journalist who wrote the SciFiNow piece recently wrote: ”I find it offensive that Adrian Dawson’s fantastic books have been compared to that garbage. If you cut his hands off at the wrists and took his eyes out, Adrian could still write rings around Dan Brown.”
Adrian has just completed [Sequoia] - the second part of the ‘Sequence Trilogy’ - which spans both time and genre and promises to be be as dark, complex, humorous as Sequence itself.
Adrian is a self-confessed perfectionist who takes exceptional pride in the depth of research and detail I include in my work. Having read too many lame endings, Adrian ensures that he has a killer ending to his novels long before he writes so much as a single word. Adrian currently lives in Leeds, West Yorkshire with his chocolate labrador: ‘Magus’.
